FAQs by Volunteers.
A mentor is
an adult who, along with parents, provides young people with support, counsel,
friendship, reinforcement and constructive example. Mentors are good listeners,
people who care, people who want to help young people bring out strengths that
are already there.
Its fun,
it’s simple, and it makes a profound difference in the life of a child. Sharing
the benefit of your experiences with a growing child is a great way to give
back to the community. Both Bigs and Littles tell us it’s the best thing they
have ever done!
BBBS serves
Hall, Hamilton, Howard, and Merrick counties. Fill out an application, which
can be found under Volunteer or call us and
let us know you want to mentor a child.
It takes so
little to make such a big difference. Depending on the program, we ask that you
spend an hour a week with your Little for a period of one year or one school
year. The time that you spend is arranged between you and your Little and their
guardian. You don’t have to create time in your busy schedule – just
incorporate your Little into your routine!
Being a
mentor is free. The cost of activities between Bigs and Littles is up to you.
Our matches also have access to discounts around the community; contact the
BBBS office to find out more!
