Sharon Rerucha Memorial Scholarship
These scholarships are awarded to two graduating seniors from one of the following high schools in our area: Grand Island Senior High, Central Catholic, Northwest High, Centura, Wood River, Doniphan, St. Paul, Central City, Hampton, Giltner, Palmer and Aurora High Schools.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
1. Applicant must have been a matched Little Brother or Little Sister in the Grand Island Agency for at least one year. The match does not need to be current.
2. Consideration will be given to a High School Mentor if no former Little applies for the scholarship.
3. Applicant must be enrolled in an institution of higher learning for the upcoming year. The scholarship must be used during the following school year or will be forfeited.
4. Applicant must be a member of the graduating class of a high school in the agency's service area (Hall, Hamilton, Howard, and Merrick Counties).
5. Applicant must submit an application, a certified transcript and two letters of recommendation to:

6. Selection will be based on the following additional criteria:
* academic achievement
*volunteer work and community involvement
*financial need
7. Applications must be received by March 5th at 4:30 p.m. in order to be considered for a scholarship to be awarded for use during the following school year.
8. The Program Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters will review applications. This committee will make selection and the results will be brought before the entire Board of Directors at the March Board Meeting.
9. Recipients will be notified and appropriately recognized.
